Aquatic Yoga Somatics Practitioner Training

About:

Our practices are in warm water (34 – 36 C) pools, hot springs and varied temperature natural water sources around the world.  We work individually and in partners to become intimate with the “soul of the waters”. As we immerse ourselves into the way of the waters, we also invoke its regenerative movements in our own bodies.  We become aware of ourselves as fluid beings.

In each 5 day module, we will enjoy approximately 3 hours exploring movement, meditation and relaxation in/with the water and 3 hours exploring fluid movement and bodywork on land.   The teachings presented in this training have been influenced by classical and tantric yogic practices, environmental awareness of water, Watsu & Tantsu (Harold Dull), Continuum Movement (Emilie Conrad), Body Mind Centering (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen) principles, amoungst others.

This experiential training and mentoring program is both an inner journey of self-development and an opportunity to inspire and enrich your existing teaching and/or therapeutic practice with new aquatic skills.  You will learn deep, yet practical somatic practitioner protocols for working with others in an aquatic environment.  You will become a true advocate of the water.

All modules include:

Exploration into yoga asana and breath adapted for an aquatic environment, sound work, contact bodywork, embodied and energetic anatomy, archetypes and myths of the water, yogic/tantric/taoist philosophy inspired by the water.

To register for this training, please Ateeka at: ateeka111@mac.com

Watsu 1 – Giovanni Baccarani

“Water ShiATSU” WATSU is a profoundly relaxing aquatic therapy. Movements are combined with gentle stretching, oriental acupressure points and Shiatsu massage while being floated in 34-degree temperature water. “Watsu” uses the lightness of the body in water to free the spinal vertebrae, rotate joint articulations and elongate muscles in alternative ways possible on land. These rhythmic, ‘dance-like’ movements are performed in harmony with your breath to inspire the natural regeneration of your body and mind.

Price:

  • Course tuition – Early Bird: £600 for the first 5 students- All other students: £650
  • Students are asked to pay a facility contribution fee of £20 per day

About Watsu

WATSU is the first form of Aquatic Bodywork. Harold Dull began developing it in 1980 floating his Zen Shiatsu students in the warm pool at Harbin Hot Springs applying its stretches and moves. In the years since, with the help of countless others in classes, clinics and spas around the world, Watsu has evolved into what many consider the most profound development in bodywork in our time. While other modalities are based on touch, the holding that working in water necessitates, brings the receiver to a new level of connection and trust. This, combined with the therapeutic benefits of warm water and the greater freedom of movement it encourages, creates a modality that can effect every level of our being.

About Giovanni Baccarani

Giovanni Baccarani is dedicated to healing arts and bodywork techniques since 1993. He became Zen Stretching and Shiatsu Instructor in 1999 and Watsu Instructor in 2003 after training in Europe and the USA with Harold Dull and others among the foremost world masters of each aquatic- or land- modality. With an experience of over a decade as a Professional of various modalities he is-founder of the International School of Watsu, an extension of WatsuEurope (2003-2014).

Giovanni Baccarani is one of the most dedicated Instructors and an upcoming mover and shaker in the world of Watsu and Aquatic Bodywork. In his teaching he conveys his great passion for land and aquatic bodywork and, thanks to his extensive experience as a Shiatsu and Watsu Practitioner first, and then as an Instructor, he stands out for his fierce eye for detail and technique, his contagious sense of humour to soften the hardest heart, and a deep understanding of eastern medicine and water work. He will delight the mind and ease the soul as the participant gently and effortlessly discovers the magic and joy of learning from this master instructor.

For many years he successfully ran his own practice of Healing Arts in Milan and has been personal therapist of athletes and professional dancers of the Italian scene. He teaches on a regular basis in the U.K., Spain, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Russia, Greece, Italy and other extra EU countries.

With over two hundred Watsu classes taught worldwide, Giovanni has now focused his activity in training high quality therapists for SPA and Clinics.

Contents of the Watsu-1 course

(5 days, 50 hours)

In the first stage of Watsu 1, you learn Watsu’s Tai Chi-like Basic Moves and positions and how, staying grounded and connected with the breath, you can let the water do the work. In its continual return to the Water Breath Dance, you find the stillness that is the ground of presence. In the second stage you learn to connect these basic moves and positions with long gracefully flowing transitions into the Transition Flow. You learn to adapt this to people of all sizes, shapes and dispositions. You learn about your own body mechanics – how to support and move each person as effortlessly as possible in the water.

There are no pre-requisites to attend the class.

Psychodrama Workshop – Jonathan Salisbury

11th April – 12th April

*Sorry but due to unfortunate circumstances this event has been cancelled*

Jonathan Salisbury_edit

Read More About This Event

Jonathan would like to invite you to a weekend of Psychodramatic Bodywork. The weekend will be an opportunity to experience Psychodramatic Bodywork in a caring and supportive atmosphere. Jonathan brings warmth, humour and love into this work and the weekend will be an intense and moving time together.

Price: £95 fully waged (sliding scale available)

About the workshop:

This workshop combines two forms of psychotherapy: psychodrama and bodywork.

  1. In psychodrama, blocked spontaneity from earlier traumas is freed and re-integrated through dramatic action methods.
  1. Bodywork involves ‘safe’ touch to help individuals connect with the messages that are held in the body as pain, numbness and/or illness. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun and fosters learning in an easy, natural manner. A spiritual component that deepens the effectiveness of the work is incorporated.

About Jonathan:

Jonathan Salisbury has been involved in the world of therapy since 1987 when he did Person Centred Counselling training as part of a Masters degree in Human Relations. He trained for 4 years as Psychodrama Psychotherapists in Oxford, qualifying in 1994. He is UKCP accredited and is accredited by the British Psychodrama Association as trainer in Psychodrama in 1998. He has done extensive work with groups, individuals and couples, which included a long-term weekly group, which ran for 20 years.

Jonathan has a passion and delight in Psychodrama as a psychotherapy offering real hope of lasting change and he still remember the first Psychodrama he was ever involved with in January 1988, recalling its visual impact and its transformative qualities.

This passion and delight has been greatly enhanced with the addition of Psychodramatic Bodywork® since June 2006. This approach integrates Psychodrama with more direct work with the body through emotional releases.

Having qualified at the Advanced level of Psychodramatic Bodywork®, Jonathan is one of the main UK trainers for the introductory level Psychodramatic Bodywork® training in the UK. His experience continues to be enhanced by working at all other levels of the training, both in the UK and abroad.

The workshop focuses on:

  • understanding, witnessing, and experiencing the emotional releases of anger, sadness and fear
  • experiencing where the body holds each of these emotions when they are ‘unexpressed’
  • experiencing and practicing  ‘guidelines for safe touch’
  • increasing one’s comfort level in the use of ‘safe’ touch
  • experiencing the integration of emotional release and bodywork within the structure of a psychodrama

Gothic Image Tours – Jamie George

8th June – 9th June

The sacred journeys ‘Gothic Image’, are designed for the spiritual pilgrim in search of inner peace, renewal and a taste of ancient knowledge

Jamie George 3_edit

Read More About This Event

About Gothic Image Tours:

A sacred journey involves passing through a series of gateways on the path to oneness with nature and the divine. An adventure of the soul, it is a process of surrender to “a voice in the heart when the earth underfoot becomes sacred and the air we breathe is like wine poured out for us by some heavenly cup-bearer“. Thus begins a quest for our own personal holy grail.

Our ancestors have bequeathed to us a legacy of shrines and holy places, set in a living landscape full of symbolism and meaning, awesome in their power and beauty. The British Isles are like a storybook full of tales of magic, mystery and imagination. Called by the Celts ‘the Blessed Isles of the West’, history, myth and legend have intermingled to create a colourful and intriguing tapestry of a magical past. Here archetypal figures such as Merlin, Arthur and Morgan Le Fay loom large.

On these journeys we visit holy wells, enchanted forests, Druid oak groves, stone circles, dolmens of the dead, fairy mounds, magical caves, sacred islands, ancient castles, ruined abbeys and majestic cathedrals – all with a story to tell.

From ancient times to the present day, poetry, dance, song and story-telling have enriched and sustained our folklore, myths and legends. Thus we will celebrate with tales, recitals and traditional music and dance. The fun and laughter of our evenings together will give us healing and nourishment on our quest. We will travel through some of the most beautiful and inspiring parts of the British and Irish countryside, including places known only to a few.

By travelling with a group of kindred spirits, there is a special opportunity to share our thoughts and feelings with each other with an open heart.

The mood of our journey and our shared quest into the nature of life provides a safe space that reinforces our sense of oneness, heals old wounds and brings us to an awareness of our full potential. This is helped by quiet reflection at a tree, a well, or standing stone.

Along the way we are joined by leading authors and researchers who enlighten us with their wisdom, insight and knowledge.

Workshop on letting go into Living and Dying

Suitable for anyone facing death in the next 90 yrs……..! a reflective, meditative, poignant, life changing and fun weekend

We live in a society conditioned to deny death. It’s a taboo subject and is often seen as a failure or at best ‘unfortunate’. We live as if we live forever, ignoring the truth of change and impermanence. Yet the acknowledgement of them holds the key to life itself. To be truly conscious in our lives and present to each moment means to ‘let-go’- to die to the last moment and open to the next-to live and die consciously, moment to moment. Death is the ultimate ‘let-go’. From the moment of our birth our bodies are dying, so the more we face the fears of our own death the more we are able to love and celebrate our lives now.

This weekend is not just about the ‘big death’ at the end of life but also about all the ‘little deaths ‘… the transitions… child to adult… married …divorced …menopause …growing older. etc

We will use image-making, meditation, writing and other experiential ways of exploring these themes   To support participants on their own inner journey they will be asked to stay in silence during the workshop.

Sacred Sites Retreat – Patricia Angove and Eloha

9th – 13th September

An opportunity to immerse yourself in the powerful energies and vortexes in the magical land of ancient Cornwall; to experience the sites for healing the self and assisting Gaia to do what she needs to do at this time in her evolution. We will laugh, cry, sing, dance and pray, for as we come together, as we connect together, as we open our hearts together – miracles will happen

Patricia Angove and Eloha_edit

Read More About This Event

Eloha and Patricia have an outstanding reputation for powerful workshops connecting participants to the earth, the ancestors and facilitating life changing experiences.

About the workshop

This year the Sacred Journeys to Sacred Sites workshop is being again held in West Penwith, Cornwall. West Penwith has probably the greatest concentration of sacred sites in the world. They draw us to them again and again.

These powerful sacred sites are set away from the normal tourist attractions, in quiet little valleys or along lonely stretches of coastline, in the middle of pasture or on top of a sacred hill; the sites have maintained their energy and power.

Most of the sites were built using the knowledge and experience of ancient man who knew how to use the power-points on the earth’s energy lines to raise their consciousness and also to cross to other realms and return with guidance. This wisdom was used to connect to the heart of the Great Mother, the ancestors, the Sky Beings and in opening hearts for greater connection in the community.

This workshop is an opportunity for participants to immerse themselves in these powerful energies and vortexes in this magical land of ancient Cornwall; to experience the sites for healing the self and assisting Gaia to do what she needs to do at this time in her evolution. We will laugh, cry, sing, dance and pray, for as we come together, as we connect together, as we open our hearts together – miracles will happen.

Patricia and Eloha are deeply connected to the land, to the ancestors and to Gaia [the Greek name for Earth as a conscious being.] They work with great sensitivity for the earth; for participants and with the group energy for the benefit of all.

In these workshops Eloha and Patricia use their extensive knowledge and experience as channels and healers to create ritual, ceremony and meditations for these times of transformation and to enhance participants experience at these sites.

Some of the places we will visit are – St. Michael’s Mount, a sacred place of pilgrimage for thousands of years, where four ley lines cross creating a very powerful vortex of energy which we will have exclusive use of; Boscawen-un Stone Circle with its unique central stone and its beautiful pure quartz stone where time seems to stand still. Sancreed Well, the continuous spring connects us to Earth Mother, soothing the soul and reviving the spirits. The sites are each truly unique in the world and can be visited many times as each experience is different and special.

You will leave the workshop feeling refreshed, inspired and ready to move forward in your life with more clarity and love, less fear and feeling that the earth is supporting you.

Accommodation: We will be staying at the wonderful Boswedden House, a beautiful house set in its own grounds less than a mile away from one of the most dramatic coastlines in the world. All rooms are ensuite and there is a chlorine free swimming pool available.

These workshops are very popular so please make sure to book early.

Price: £580 or £550 (prices based on two or more sharing a room)

Early bird discount of £30 if booked by 20th May 2015

This price includes full board, facilitation, entrance fees and transport to all sites.

A non refundable deposit of £100 secures your place.

(Full payment to be received by 20th July)

Price:

About Giovanni Baccarani

Contents of the Watsu-2 course

(5 days, 50 hours)

Watsu 2 expands the Transition Flow taught in Watsu 1. You learn additional moves and bodywork in each position and how to incorporate them and other moves, as needed. You learn about the meridians and points in Watsu and explore following the client’s tendency to move, and how to creatively explore your own movements. Practising the point work, the lifts, the pushes and pulls introduced at this stage, helps develop the ability to explore and play with energy. Because you now have so much to work and play with, it is recommended you practice many sessions before going on to Watsu 3 or another form.

Prerequisite: Watsu 1 with successful final evaluation, have logged the 10 required practice sessions.
