A 10-day Journey of Poetry in Water, with Steve Karle
Cornwall – England
Friday 5th May – Sunday 14th May 2017

One of the most important skills in our approach to aquatic bodywork is the ability to step into an empty space. A space in which we can fully listen to another. Listen to the movement and the stillness. With our presence and our touch. At times coming closer. At times stepping back. Continuously negotiating togetherness and space. To then allow stories to be told. Spontaneous journeys to unfold. Primal dances to take place.

Our Approach
We look at movement in water as a somatic process. So this journey is an invitation for you to immerse within. Witness journeys without. And learn the art of aquatic bodywork through your own experience and observation. Throughout 10 days you will have a chance to fully dive in and gradually experience the unfolding of movement along your inner processes, at your own pace. Through regular feedback and discussions, we will gradually build maps of awareness, understanding movement from a physical, emotional and psychological perspective. These maps will become the guidelines to our practice- the foundation.

Who is it for?
More than a course, this is a space to retreat and connect. To slow down and let go. To play and to heal. Everybody’s rhythm is welcome, be it calm or wild. We recommend this journey to those who’ve had one to one sessions and would like to deepen their exploration now within a relational field which is often conducive to greater healing. But it is also ideal for those who never had any aquatic bodywork experience before as it is such a gradual journey of discovery. It is great new territories to explore for movement practitioners -from yogis to dancers- as well as bodyworkers, therapists and aquatic practitioners as our approach to this work is so different than any other holistic or aquatic modality.

Professional Path
For those with a professional aim, this 10-day journey constitutes the first part of the British School of Aquatic Bodywork’s Foundation Course (Modules 1-4). You will gain a great amount of awareness and skill that will allow you to practice this work with others. You will find more details about our foundation course and its content on our website. Preference will be given to participants joining all 10 days, but it may be possible to join a number of days only, depending on the modules you are interested in.

Location + Venue
The workshop is residential and will be held at Boswedden House, Cape Cornwall. A beautiful Georgian house situated on the Land’s End Peninsula in an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty”. The house is 10 minutes walk to the sea and the South West Coast Path is even closer with mile upon mile of stunning scenery all around. The unspoilt, rugged Cornish countryside is wild & elemental. And late spring is an excellent time to visit.
